How to make it
Four steps, about a minute of your time. These are real screens from the run above.
- 01
Add your dishes
Fill in 'Restaurant name' and 'Your dishes (or just the cuisine)': sections, dishes and prices as you want them printed. Add your address and hours if you like, pick a look (Modern, Rustic, Elegant, Bistro, Street food or Café) and up to four designs.
Open the flow
- 02
Watch the menu get set
The AI writer writes a short tagline and lays out your dishes by section, keeping your words and prices exactly as given. If you only named a cuisine, it writes sample dishes, with no prices. FLUX 3 makes a different food photo for each header, then Idyllic sets the type. Preview the plan free first.
- 03
Compare the menus
Each finished menu appears side by side, next to its food photo on its own, so you can pick the dish that sets the right mood.
- 04
Edit and download
Open one in Canvas to fix a price, add a dish or change any font or color. Export a PNG: Standard for screens and QR menus, or Large (2550×3300 px, letter size at 300 ppi) for print.
Why it beats
a template
Your dishes, set for you
Paste your menu the way you have it. The AI writer groups it into sections like STARTERS, MAINS and DESSERTS, one dish per line, and long menus flow into two columns.
Sample dishes when you need them
Opening soon, or just trying a look? Give only the cuisine and the writer drafts a sample menu of three or four sections with three to five dishes each, ready for you to replace with your own.
Prices only when you give them
The writer never guesses a price. A dish with a price in your brief prints as 'Dish — price'; dishes without one stay unpriced.
A food photo that sets the mood
FLUX 3 makes a signature dish or spread for the header, styled on a dark surface and fading into the page, so your name and tagline sit cleanly beneath it.
Edit every line
Canvas has 144 fonts, text effects and shapes. Update tonight's specials, swap in a photo of your own dish, or select part of the picture and describe what should change.
What makes a menu easy to order from
- Keep sections in the order people eat: starters, mains, sides, desserts, drinks.
- Describe a dish with two or three key ingredients rather than adjectives.
- Write prices the same way everywhere, for example 19 or $19, never both.
- Mark vegetarian and gluten-free dishes with a short code like V or GF.
- Put your address and hours in the footer, so a shared menu still tells people where to go.
- Print a test copy and read it in your dining room's light before you print a stack.
Restaurant menu sizes
| Idyllic menu | 1275×1650 px, or 2550×3300 Large | US Letter proportions, PNG |
|---|---|---|
| US Letter | 8.5×11 in | 2550×3300 px at 300 ppi, the Large export exactly |
| Legal | 8.5×14 in | Used for longer menus; a taller sheet, so the Letter design prints with room to spare below |
| Online or QR menu | PNG | The Standard export reads well on a phone; link to it from a QR code on the table |
Most home printers leave a white margin around a full-color page. For edge-to-edge menus, print at a shop and ask how they handle bleed, often 1/8 in (3 mm).

Questions
How can I create a menu using Idyllic?
Type your restaurant name, then paste your dishes, with prices if you want them shown, or just the cuisine. Pick a look and run the flow. You get three finished menus; open your favorite in Canvas to fine-tune it and download a PNG.
Is the restaurant menu maker free?
You can preview the whole flow free: real AI writing with sample images, so you can check the plan. Running it for real is on Plus ($10.50 a month, billed yearly) and uses 36 credits for three menus. The free plan also includes 3 free images a day in the image studio.
What if I only know the cuisine?
Type it, for example 'Thai' or 'Neapolitan pizza', and the AI writer drafts a sample menu with three or four sections of three to five dishes each, with no prices. Replace them with your real dishes in Canvas.
Will it add prices to my menu?
Only the prices you give. A dish priced in your brief prints as 'Dish — price'; anything without a price stays unpriced. The writer never invents prices.
What size is a restaurant menu?
US Letter (8.5×11 in) is a common one-page menu, with legal (8.5×14 in) for longer ones. Idyllic designs at Letter proportions; the Large export is 2550×3300 px, 300 ppi at 8.5×11 in.
How many dishes fit on one menu?
Up to 32 lines, section names included. Past 18 lines the menu switches to two columns. For a bigger menu, make one design for food and another for drinks.
Is Idyllic easy for non-designers?
Yes. You never start from a blank page: the photo, type and layout are done for you, and editing means clicking a word and typing.
Can I put the menu online?
Yes. Download the PNG for your website, delivery listings or social pages, or link to it from a QR code on each table.
