AI Photo Editor
Idyllic's AI photo editor changes any image from a text prompt. Upload a photo or open one you generated, then say what to change, like 'swap the jacket for a red raincoat' or 'make it golden hour'. Only that change happens, and the conversation is remembered, so you can refine step by step. Canvas adds fill, extend, erase and background replacement.

How it works
Three steps from idea to finished image.
- 1
Upload or open an image
Start with any photo from your phone or computer, or an image you made in Idyllic.
- 2
Say what to change
Type one change in plain words: 'change her dress to black', 'remove the people in the background', 'make it black and white'. Only that part changes.
- 3
Keep refining
The editor remembers the conversation, so follow up with 'a little warmer' or 'now add light snow'. Download when it looks right.
Edits you can make with words
- Outfits and styling: 'swap the hoodie for a navy blazer', 'add gold hoop earrings'.
- Lighting: 'relight as golden hour', 'soft studio light from the left', 'neon night'.
- Color and mood: 'make it black and white', 'warmer tones', 'film look with grain'.
- Cleanup: 'remove the trash can', 'clear the tourists from the beach'.
- Background: 'put her in a Paris street cafe', 'plain white studio background'.
- Weather and season: 'make it snow', 'turn summer into autumn'.
Canvas tools
When it's easier to point at a spot than to describe it, use Canvas.
- Fill: mark an area and describe what goes there.
- Extend: grow the frame to reframe a photo for 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1.
- Erase: remove an object and fill the gap.
- Replace background: keep the subject and change everything behind it.
Who uses it
- Online sellers: clean product shots and lifestyle backgrounds from one photo.
- Creators: thumbnails, Reels covers and profile pictures.
- Photographers: quick relights, cleanup and alternate looks for clients.
- Real estate and rentals: decluttered rooms and brighter interiors.
- Everyday photos: remove photobombers, fix a grey sky, try a new haircut.
Tips for precise edits
- Make one change per message, then build on it.
- Name the thing and the change: 'the blue mug on the left' beats 'the mug'.
- Say what to keep when it matters: 'keep her face and pose the same'.
- Use Canvas for small areas that are hard to pin down in words.
- Upscale last, after all your edits.
Prompt ideas
Copy a prompt, or open it in Idyllic and make it yours.
change the grey hoodie to a tailored navy blazer, keep everything else the same
relight the photo as golden hour, warm sun from the right, long soft shadows
make it black and white with deep contrast, like a 1960s street photo
remove the people walking behind her and fill in the street naturally
replace the sky with a dramatic orange sunset, keep the buildings unchanged
change the background to a clean white studio with a soft shadow under the product
make it a snowy winter evening, warm light glowing in the windows
give him a short buzz cut, keep his face, expression and clothes the same
extend the photo to a vertical 9:16 frame, continue the beach and sky above
restyle the living room as Scandinavian: light oak floor, white walls, linen sofa
Frequently asked questions
Is the AI photo editor free?
You can start free: the free plan includes 3 images a day with no credit card. Paid plans from $10.50/month billed yearly add private mode and a commercial license.
Can I edit my own photos, not just AI images?
Yes. Edit with words works on any image, whether you upload it or generate it in Idyllic.
How do I edit a photo with text prompts?
Upload the photo and write the change as an instruction, like 'change the shirt to white linen'. Only that change happens; send another instruction to keep going.
Will the rest of my photo change?
No. Idyllic changes only what you describe. If a detail matters, say so in the prompt: 'keep her face and pose the same'.
Can I change the background of a photo?
Yes. Describe the new background, or use Canvas replace background to keep the subject and swap what's behind it. It works well for product photos, portraits and profile pictures.
Can it make a photo black and white?
Yes. Ask for 'black and white', or be specific: 'high-contrast black and white, film grain, 1960s street photo'.
Can I reframe a photo or change its aspect ratio?
Yes. Use Canvas extend to grow the frame to 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, and the new space is filled in to match the photo.
Are my edited photos private?
Free creations appear in the public gallery. Paid plans include private mode, plus a commercial license for client and product work. Only edit photos you own or have permission to use.
